Hill Country
Railroad Association Efforts were begun in 1993 to form the Hill Country
Railroad Association in an effort to preserve this nation's heritage in
Llano and Burnet Counties. On April 11, 1998 the Kingsland/Llano
Historical Railroad District was dedicated and placed on the National
Registry of Historical Places. Marker dedication took place at the Llano
Museum and the Antlers Hotel, Kingsland.

Temple The History Center includes indoor and outdoor static displays and exhibits. The Center maintains an archive and research collection pertaining to the history of eastern Texas, including logging railroads and area shortlines. It also holds the archives of Texas Southeastern Railroad. ADMISSION: Free HOURS: Monday through Friday 8-5; Saturday 9-1. Closed most major holidays.

The museum, open every weekend from April to November, features an interesting collection of railroad locomotives, cars and other artifacts, as well as a model railroad and research library. The museum is open from April to November, Saturdays from 11 AM to 4 PM. Our annual Open House is scheduled for the first weekend in November. The Martin & Frances Lehnis Railroad Museum is located across the street from the historic Brownwood Santa Fe Depot and Fred Harvey House. It exhibits the railroad history of Brownwood, Central Texas and the American Southwest. The exhibits include railroad lanterns, model trains of all sizes and ages, railroad equipment, interactive telegraph equipment used to send telegraph messages, railroad videos, photographs of railroad employees, structures and trains, and the sights and sounds of trains, trains, trains!

310475 The New Braunfels Railroad Museum is housed in the 1907 International & Great Northern/Missouri Pacific depot. Dedicated to the preservation of our railroad heritage, it houses a collection of rail artifacts including a steam locomotive, caboose, I-GN velocipede, and two model railroads (HO & N). Open noon to 4:00 pm Thursday through Monday. Admission by donation.

Railroad Artifact Preservation Society, working with the City of Amarillo and many other organizations and corporations has moved the 5000 to its new location at 2nd and Lincoln in downtown Amarillo. Now that 5000 has been relocated, Railroad Artifact Preservation Society is raising funds to erect a new building designed to permanently preserve and beautifully display 5000. This new building will also provide a presentation related to the development and history of the 5000.
The
secondary purpose of the Railroad Artifact
Preservation Society is to protect, restore, preserve and
display other "Historically Significant Railroad Artifacts" of
the United States.

The Railroad &
Heritage Museum is located in the downtown Temple Santa Fe Railroad
depot. The exhibits focus on the influence the railroads had on the
westward expansion of Texas and on the history of railroad operations.
In addition to historic railroading, the museum offers viewing alcoves
with radio scanners tuned to current BNSF Railroad communications.
Historic railroad equipment, BNSF railroad wye and mainlines heading in
three directions are located right outside.

111 N. Main St. , PO Box 778 The Rockdale I&GN Depot museum is located in downtown Rockdale in the recently restored former International & Great Northern depot. Dedicated to the preservation of our railroad and local history, it houses a collection of railroad as well as local artifacts. In addition we have on display MP dining car 36 "Cheyenne Mountain", and a MP (StLB&M) caboose. Plans are to include an operating model railroad in O and HO scales. preserving the rail history of Fort Bend County and the surrounding
area. During the peak era of railroads, ten lines traversed Fort Bend
County, including one narrow gauge. Our museum is located right next to
the busy BNSF and UP main lines. Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10AM to 5PM; Sundays 1 - 5PM
